I can’t believe I’m writing this but.. here goes nothing..
I’m still in shock and I am so god damn happy!
So the little night away in Ambleside which Adam booked (See last post for more info) had a hidden agenda behind it. It was of course for a belated anniversary night away but it became one of the most memorable trips of my life.
When we arrived we spent a day in Ambleside nipping in to different shops and enjoyed a delicious pub lunch.
We then headed back to the hotel to get ready before dinner.
Just as we were leaving, Adam told me he had a present for me and I needed to close my eyes.
At first I thought oh no I haven’t bought him a present! I felt awful!
He then walked over and placed a box in my hand. I was terrified to open it, just in case my high hopes were shattered!
I eventually opened the box and it was a beautiful sparkling diamond ring. Of course I wished it was an engagement ring but he said nothing! (Leave a girl suspense why don’t you!)
I said…. is this..erm… what I think it is?
He of course said yes, then asked me to be his wife!!
Adam said it felt like forever until I actually said yes. ha! Sorry!
I just couldn’t stop smiling, hugging and kissing him as this is what I’ve dreamt of for so long!
Writing this, I can’t stop smiling.
I of course said yes and couldn’t stop smiling, shaking and happy tears came along too.
The happy tears and shaky hands didn’t stop for a good hour! I was in complete shock.
After 5 fantastic years together he finally asked me to be his wife.
At first I wanted to keep this a secret and tell people in person. However my mum was an exception.
For years she’s been winding me up saying ‘can I buy a hat yet?’. I called her straight away and she was over the moon.
The following day we broke the news to my dad during a meal. We decided to not say anything and to see how long it would take until he notices.
Put it this way we gave in!
After the starter my dad and Caroline still didn’t notice! We randomly got on to the subject of weddings in Vegas and my dad made a comment along the lines of ”well I would have to come with you!” So I said ”As if you haven’t noticed!!” and me and Adam started smiling and I showed my ring.
Caroline and Adam said they swear they saw my dads eyes tearing up!
The next step was to break it to all of our friends. Over group chats I sent a simple image of us and the ring but for Facebook and Instagram we posted this adorable photo announcement…
As I write this, I’m gobsmacked to how many people have liked and commented with their best wishes (146 likes and 143 comments so far).
Now everybody knows, it’s becoming reality and I’m still completely in shock.
Now a little message to my fiancé!!!!!
For 5 years you’ve put up with me and my quirkiness. I don’t think you understand how happy you have made me. I am completely over the moon and I can’t stop smiling and looking at my beautiful ring.
As a wedding co-ordinator you’ve had to put up with my constant hints of how much I love weddings (sorry!). But I’m so lucky to have you in my life. You are my best friend and I would be truly lost without you.
I can’t wait to be Mrs Butterworth.
I love you so much.
Your fiancé xx
